Am 7. Oktober lädt die Wiener Bildungsakademie zu einem besonderen Abend, der die Brücke zwischen Schottland, Österreich und Europa schlägt. Gemeinsam mit Gästen aus Politik, Kultur und Wissenschaft diskutieren wir internationale Zusammenarbeit, europäische Perspektiven und die Rolle von Parteien, Kultur und Zivilgesellschaft im globalen Dialog.
Zu unseren Gästen zählen Sir Tom Clarke, langjähriger Abgeordneter der britischen Labour Party und Autor seiner Autobiographie To Be Honest… The Story of My Life, sowie Neil Baxter, Herausgeber des Buches und enger Wegbegleiter Clarkes. Ergänzt wird die Diskussion durch die Expertise von Melanie Sully, britische Politologin und Direktorin des Instituts Go-Governance, sowie von Elisabeth Vitouch, ehemalige Vorsitzende des Ausschusses für europäische und internationale Angelegenheiten und weiters Karin Moser, Medien Historikerin und stellvertretende Direktorin der WBA.
Begrüßt werden die Gäste von Cappar Hajo (Direktor der WBA) sowie Renate Brauner (Urban Forum Institute, ehem. Wiener Stadträtin für Internationale Angelegenheiten). Moderiert wird die Podiumsdiskussion von Elena Pramesberger. Den Abschluss gestaltet Liz Gardiner (CCSE, University of the West of Scotland, Scotland in Europe CIC).

Scotland, Austria and Europe – An Evening on International Relations
On October 7, the Wiener Bildungsakademie invites you to a special evening that builds bridges between Scotland, Austria, and Europe. Together with guests from politics, culture, and academia, we will discuss international cooperation, European perspectives, and the role of parties, culture, and civil society in the global dialogue.
Our guests include Sir Tom Clarke, long-time Member of the British Labour Party and author of his autobiography To Be Honest… The Story of My Life, as well as Neil Baxter, editor of the book and Clarke’s close companion. The discussion will be further enriched by the expertise of Melanie Sully, British political scientist and Director of the Go-Governance Institute, and Elisabeth Vitouch, former Chairwoman of the Committee for European and International Affairs, and Karin Moser, Media historian and Deputy Director of the Wiener Bildungsakademie.
The evening will open with words of welcome from Cappar Hajo (Director of the Wiener Bildungsakademie) and Renate Brauner (Urban Forum Institute, former Vienna City Councillor for International Affairs). The panel discussion will be moderated by Elena Pramesberger. Closing remarks will be delivered by Liz Gardiner (CCSE, University of the West of Scotland, Scotland in Europe CIC).
